Mary Gauvain, Secretary

Mary is Distinguished Professor of Psychology Emerita at UC Riverside. She is a developmental psychologist with expertise in the social and cultural contributions to cognitive development. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Psychological Association, the American Educational Research Association, and the Association for Psychological Science. During her 30 years on the UCR faculty (1992-2022), Mary served in various capacities including as Chair of the UCR Academic Senate (2010-12), Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Success and Development, and Co-Director of the UC Global Health Institute Center of Expertise on One Health. She received the UCR Distinguished Campus Service Award in 2010. Mary has also served on the UC Systemwide Academic Senate as a member of the Academic Council (2010-12), and as Vice Chair (2019-20) and Chair (2020-21) of the Academic Senate. Through her many years involvement in the Academic Senate Mary has developed extensive knowledge of the University of California that will be useful to CUCEA.
