CUCEA DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS
The Council (CUCEA) recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions on behalf of UC emeriti by their election to the Council as Distinguished Members. They are:
- Louise Taylor, UC Berkeley. After a long and distinguished career on the Berkeley campus, Louise served as the campus representative to the Council, Chair, JBC member, and as CUCEA’s Information Officer, coordinating the flow of information to and from all of the UC campus emeriti associations, since 2008. Chair Elect Joel Dimsdale noted that Louise’s "long involvement in the leadership of CUCEA and outstanding organizational skills have led some to call her 'the secret sauce of CUCEA'," adding that the Nominating Committee "strongly concurs and enthusiastically recommends to the Council conferring Louise Taylor as a Distinguished Member of CUCEA for her deeply appreciated and laudable service.” The nomination received unanimous approval. - CUCEA Minutes from virtual meeting hosted by UCSB, April 26, 2023
- Marjorie Caserio (1929-2021), UC San Diego. Marjorie Caserio was elected Honorary member in recognition of her exceptional contributions to CUCEA, having served as Chair, Information Officer, web manager and newsletter editor. - CUCEA minutes at UC Riverside, April 26, 2018

- Charles Berst, UC Los Angeles. “Charles Hess recommended that Chuck Berst be awarded an honorary membership in CUCEA on the basis of the exceptional contributions he has made on behalf of the UC emeriti through the publication of the biannual biobibliographic survey. - Norah Jones (1921-2010), UC Los Angeles. “In accord with By-Law Section IIC, Norah Jones was unanimously elected Honorary Member.” - CUCEA Minutes at UC Berkeley, May 1, 2003
- Ralph Nair (1913-2006), UC Santa Barbara. “Moses Greenfield pointed out that the By-Laws [sic] of CUCEA permit up to three honorary member[s]. Greenfield proposed Ralph Nair (SB) as an honorary member. The proposal was seconded and approved by acclamation. - Moses Greenfield, UC Los Angeles. “Ralph Nair reported on the long history of Moses Greenfield’s participation in the affairs of CUCEA and then moved that he be elected to one of the three honorary CUCEA memberships permitted by the Bylaws ‘for exceptional pioneering contributions.’ The motion to elected [sic] Moses Greenfield to honorary CUCEA membership was approved by acclamation.” - CUCEA Minutes at UC Los Angeles, April 24, 1997
